Boris being Boris!

They have a reputation of keeping the rich, rich and the poor, poor which makes income inequality always a hot topic when it comes to the UK Conservative party therefore it doesn't help that Boris Johnson seems to be condoning or even promoting it.

Boris Johnson has come under fire today after his as Nick Clegg said "careless elitist" remarks about the 16% of the population with an IQ under 85, (average being 100) mocking them and saying that more attention should be focused on the 2% of the population with an IQ above 130.

I find this outrageous because it is ridiculous to focus on the very smart minority of the population who are capable of doing well in life and to leave a larger minority of those who are not as able to get good grades or a decent job. I think Mr. Johnson is blinded by his very sheltered upbringing through Eton and Oxford to understand that people develop at their own pace and that those who may have a lower IQ may be very hard workers and have incredible skills of their own. I think his view that the higher IQ population should be helped develop more than those with lower IQ is something not too dissimilar from Hitler's views the elite Aryan race.

Johnson, also said ‘I stress – I don’t believe that economic equality is possible; indeed some measure of inequality is essential for the spirit of envy and keeping up with the Joneses that is, like greed, a valuable spur to economic activity', which I firmly support up to an extent. If we had full income equality like Karl Marx's communism proposed, there would be no incentive to better ourselves or work hard and so the economy would grow. Income inequality on the other hand, creates envy and therefore competition which is essential for economic growth. However, as I heard earlier today, this envy can lead to stealing or other illegal ways of making money and so this income inequality created by capitalism has to be limited. But is it possible?

I can't answer that, but all I can say is that if Boris Johnson the mayor of London, who is supposedly representing the London electorate, is suggesting to focus more on the Higher IQ population than the lower IQ, then income inequality is most likely going to get worse in the future and so I think it will inevitably lead to more people breaking the law because of this envy which could be used to help motivate society.
