A help site for McDonalds employees has caused outrage after it suggested that employees on the minimum wage should "consider returning holiday gifts in order to get out of debt". This isn't even the first time that this has happened. The company advises employees with such gems as "breaking food into smaller pieces often results in eating less and still feeling full", and "Stop complaining. Stress hormones rise by 15% after 10 minutes of complaining." This of course has caused outrage from groups campaigning for higher minimum wage, such as "Low pay is not ok" who made a YouTube video in order to get the word out using screenshots from the website itself.
I would like to say that this is the only case of a company using ridiculous methods to cover up the fact that they are simply not paying their employees enough. Some shops in the Walmart chain, the largest minimum wage employer in America, have started holiday food drives FOR THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES.
