Plastic Bags

The average plastic bag is used for just five minutes, but takes 500 years to decompose. There are 70 billion of the blighters produced every year, all of which end up as little toxic bits polluting soil, rivers, lakes and oceans. And, and - if that weren't enough to have the green eco warrior inside you beating its chest with fury - they kill ickle wickle cute birdy-wirdies, who get strangled. Tsk.

Never fear though: The world is looking to Ireland to reduce the production of them and consumers' dependence on them. Read this
