Pigs

Farmers cannot afford to feed their pigs, because the price of wheat is sow (bad pun, sorry) high and supermarkets will not pay them a higher price. On average farmers are losing £27 per pig. Consequently it is likely that domestic pig farmers will go out of business and the UK will be flooded with cheap imports.

All of this is an excellent example of how markets are interrelated, of the power of supermarkets and of globalisation.
