This is how The Economist describes inflation. There is an excellent article here on how inflation is affecting emerging economies and what should be done to combat it. It also considers how inflation is more damaging to emerging economies: spending on food makes up relatively more of their 'typical basket of goods' and so the impact on disposable income is harsher.
Being the Economist it outlines what market-based policies should be adopted to solve the problem.
It's fairly hard-going but is excellent for those trying to sharpen their synpotic understanding of global and development economics. If you have a question about the article, email me : jefrodefro@googlemail.com
