On Wednesday 22nd April a speaker from "War on Want" will be attending the Upper Sixth double lesson. He will be giving a talk and then hosting a debate : "This house believes that aid is all spent on corruption and guns".
As luck would have it Dambisa Moyo has written a book called "Dead Aid" which is very anti-aid. Aid is a very contentious issue. Paul Collier , whose book "The Bottom Billion" is a must-read, is balanced. He sees growth as the main way out of poverty : "Growth is not the cure all ,but lack of growth is the kill-all" he argues.
ONE, Bono's lot, have clearly stated that Dambisa is not their dawg and have argued against each of his propositions. It is here and really is essential reading in time for the debate.
