The Low Emission Zone RULES!

There are some disadvantages to the LEZ but I, ChrisThePsycho, state that it is not the case with me, my friend. I totally find the LEZ helpful.
Ok, The Low Emissions Zone is a method from the government to tackle carbon emissions in Greater London, which I find will benefit our economy because of these sweet reasons:
The Low Emissions Zone now covers most of Greater London, currently having some of the worst levels of air pollution in the whole of Europe. Also, road transport contributes to half of total emissions of oxides of nitrogen in the capital, mainly vehicles like lorries, vans and coaches. I believe that through the LEZ, people will be given less incentive to drive (especially highly polluting vehicles) and reduce the amount of air pollution in London. Awesome!
This leads to my next exciting point, which would be health. Not only will less drivers on the road lead to a decrease in air pollution, it also decreases the amount of health problems, like less children being born/premature deaths due to respiratory or cardiovascular diseases (asthma, lung diseases) and a reduction to hospital admissions due to respiratory problems reductions in hospital admissions for people with respiratory illnesses. This allows less employees to take time off work due to being admitted into hospital. Asthma UK welcomed the zone as a “significant step forward” for London’s 600,000 asthma sufferers. Radical.
To close, I feel that the LEZ will help society and eradicate some of the negative externalities created from driving but a lot more could be done to help society, maybe by including cars into the LEZ, but that is for another day. Oh yeah. Positivity all up in your face.

"Livingstone understands the increased threats that climate change poses and the incredible opportunities it presents if we act fast enough. "He sees London's future being shaped by our response to climate change threats, and that if we decentralise energy and have non-polluting transport systems we can create jobs, have a better standard of living and show others a way forward in a climate-changed future." - Charles Secrett, former head of Friends of the Earth
